MATALGEA softshell jacket is a trench-inspired transitional jacket with a practical cape detail, an oversized detachable hood and a fixed waist, built to keep children dry and comfortable through school runs, playground sessions and unpredictable spring or autumn weather. The three-layer softshell construction combines a recycled polyester outer, a windproof polyurethane membrane and a soft fleece backing in one fabric, whilst the untaped seams mean the jacket is highly water-repellent rather than waterproof. A 12,000 mm (WP) water column and fluorine-free Bionic Finish Eco treatment bead light rain off the surface, and the 70 lux reflective star pocket detail keeps the child visible to drivers from up to 300 metres in low light.

The cape detail channels water away from the shoulders and chest during light showers, which is what makes the trench-inspired silhouette practical rather than purely decorative. The oversized hood detaches completely when the weather clears, and the fixed waist creates a tailored shape without needing adjustment as layers change underneath.
